Went to a 50th birthday party Saturday night with a seventies theme. The birthday boy had bought one of those "as seen on TV" DVD special of a show
called Burt Sugarman's Saturday Night Special.
9 DVDs, each featuring one year's worth of special musical appearances of that year's hottest songs. I wasn't familiar with this show since I didn't grow up in North America but man, we had a fabulous time. The songs, the hair, the outfits!!!!!!!!. Many artists were one hit wonders. Visually we didn't recognize many artists since this was before music videos but recognized most of the songs and all the time someone would yell "oh that's who sings this" or "that's what he/she/they look like". And man, these people could sing, unlike today. No lip synching (sp), no special effects, just lots of dancing and singing their hearts out. Lots of choreography, glittery outfits and afros. These people were fit, singing and dancing up a strom, incredible performances.
A perfect Christmas present for a couple of people on my list!
Highly recommend it if you love 70's music.
