Does anyone else there quilt? I've always wanted to learn, and am finally taking a course. I've got 2 lessons left and will soon be finished my
FIRST QUILT!!!! yay! It's queen size. Will post a pic when it's done..... (oh no, I can't post pics here for some reason.....) :0(

First off, CONGRATS with the quilt!!!!!
I know how to quilt but haven't done much of it. My skills are fairly good when it comes to piecing & getting seams to match up, but the actual quilting is a problem for me. I don't have a walking foot for my machine, so have to quilt by hand, and my hands/wrists don't care for the job, too many years of craft work(crocheting, knitting, beadwork, wirework,...), and my inherited tremor make things difficult, have noticed my eyes don't like the tiny stitches either. I must be getting old LOL! What I have done, has been small quick to complete items, coasters, table mats, that sort of thing. These days I've been doing mostly traditional rughooking, my hands and eyes find it easier to do. Maybe when I can afford a better machine I'll have another look at quilting. Several of my friends belong to the local guild and have been at me to join up again. |

wow.... hand quilting is not for me...... altho' I haven't arrived at the 'putting it all together' stage! I may change my mind when I try
working with something so large.
The store I go to for lessons offers a landscape class.... not sure how to describe it. Many of the samples look like Group of Seven works that have been stitched over..... They are little guys that you can frame. I've enjoyed this, but I also like the more instant gratification of doing smaller projects. I could also see these as nice little gifts (if I'm any good at it!). Can you post pics of your rughooking, etc., gyp?

I've seen some fabulous small pieces suitable for framing, they are the size of postcards and embellished with novelty yarns/threads, beads, buttons,
charms and what-have-you. I heard of one lady that makes them and sells them for hundreds of dollars! The landscape quilts are beautiful, I've drooled over
a couple of them, we have some extremely talented quilters here.
Sorry, no pics of my stuff, I'm useless when it comes to posting pictures  I'm just starting to design to design my first one from scratch. It will
be a wall hanging or table mat with a 3 circuit labyrinth in the center. I'll recycle old t-shirts for the hooking.
